Two top professionals Dhamitha Cooke and Ranil Angunawela have been appointed to the Board of Continental Insurance Ltd.
Dhamitha Cooke is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka carrying a wealth of experience in finance, audit, operations, technology, and capital markets. She is presently the Chief Financial Officer of the Stassen Group of Companies. Having commenced her career as a practicing Chartered Accountant she has served as Head of Internal Audit at SriLankan Airlines, Deputy General Manager Internal Audit at Hatton National Bank PLC as well as the Deputy General Manager Operations and Systems responsible for Banking Operations and Bank wide IT infrastructure, Systems, Network Security and Services. She also served as President of the Mongolian Stock Exchange appointed by the London Stock Exchange.
Ranil Angunawela is a corporate lawyer based in Colombo, Sri Lanka and is the founding partner of LexAG – Legal Consultant. He specialises in corporate and commercial law, with a focus on insurance regulation. He began his career working for Julius & Creasy, and F.J. & G. de Saram, two of Sri Lanka’s most reputed law firms. He was then a counsel in the chambers of Nihal Fernando, P.C. before serving as Director-Legal of the Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka. He has also served as a member of the Corporate Governance Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Sri Lanka, and as the Chair of the Insurance Industry Sub-Committee, which was established to formulate changes to insurance legislation. Ranil has an LL.B from Brunel University and an MBA from Edith Cowan University.
